East Elementary kicked off the holiday season with a whimsical celebration honoring its hardworking Garden Club. Families gathered for a festive evening of cookies, hot chocolate and a tour of the school's outdoor classroom, which students transformed into a glowing winter walkway.
The event celebrated a busy semester for the young gardeners. This fall, students installed a donated waterfall and pond, moved the sensory garden and learned about nature firsthand.
Students Henley Nicholas and Eden Conn shared their love for the club, explaining how they enjoy digging in the dirt and helping their families garden at home. The lit-up path featured decorated planter boxes, climbing vines wrapped in lights and even an appearance by the Grinch.
The Garden Club will return in the spring, just in time for their annual "Garden Baby Shower."
