The North Alabama Agriplex continued its mission of connecting children with nature by hosting a special "Butterfly Buffet" event at Sportsman Lake Park on Friday, April 3.
The event, hosted by the Barefoot University forest school program, provided a hands-on learning experience for local families. Children explored the park's Wildflower Garden, observed caterpillars and butterflies in their natural habitat and participated in free play.
To cap off the event, the kids got to create their own simple fruit feeders, designed to attract pollinators like butterflies to their own backyards.
Barefoot University is a K-12 forest school made up of volunteers, homeschool families and students. Enrollment for new families opens in mid-April.
