Wallace State Community College is breaking new ground by hosting Alabama's first-ever "Jill of All Trades" event, a day dedicated to inspiring young women to explore careers in the skilled trades.
The full-day program brought high school girls from across the region to the Wallace State campus for hands-on experiences in fields like manufacturing, construction, agriculture and transportation.
The "Jill of All Trades" initiative, which originated in Canada, aims to address the growing demand for skilled workers while encouraging young women to consider high-paying, rewarding career paths they might not have previously explored. Organizers hope to expand the program to other colleges throughout Alabama in the coming years.
