On Friday, May 16, students, staff, and community partners came together at East Elementary to celebrate exciting additions and enhancements to the school's growing garden!
Designed as a vibrant hub for education and environmental stewardship, the East Elementary garden continues to evolve as a space of inclusion and creativity for all students.
The celebration highlighted several newly unveiled features, including:
♿ A renovated accessible ramp, complete with raised beds and trellises, designed to allow students of all abilities to easily participate in planting and harvesting.
🌱 A new greenhouse
🗑️ Composting bins
🍓 A student-favorite strawberry pyramid (made possible by a generous donation from Alabama Congressman Randall Shedd)
🦋 A larger pollinator garden
🎍 Sustainable bamboo fencing
🎨 A whimsical rock snake art installation, with each stone uniquely decorated by students.
The East Elementary Garden continues to thrive thanks to the collective efforts of an engaged and passionate community, providing a valuable outdoor learning space for students for years to come.
